Homework In accordance with the School Board policy your child will have nightly homework for about 30 minutes. Homework assignments will include: math, Spelling words and independent reading. In addition, your child is expected to read 25 books during the school year. Newsletter Included in the Friday Folder will be a weekly newsletter. This will include updates about what we're going to learn, Spelling words for the week, Reading vocabulary, letter sounds, Math concepts and news about upcoming events. Friday Folders We try to keep families informed about what is going on in First Grade, so each Friday look forward to seeing a folder come home with your child. In this folder, you will find a newsletter, the majority of your child's papers from the week and school notices. Please look at your child's work with him/her, sign the parent signature page and return the empty folder on the following school day--usually Monday.
