Welcome to third grade. We are Beth Tierney and Monica Fitzgerald, your third grade teachers. Between us, we have 3 dogs, 5 cars, 2 masters degrees, and (most importantly) 38 years of teaching experience! We’ve been teaching together for many years and look forward to teaming again this year. We are excited to be your child’s teachers. Third grade is a year full of fun and learning. At Randolph Heights, your third grader will travel to the Minnesota Zoo and Valley Branch Environmental Center (formerly Belwin Nature Center), as well as the Como Planetarium. S/he will learn the fundamentals of cursive writing and multiplication and division. In history, students will dive into Ancient Rome, the Vikings, Native Americans, and the Age of Exploration. By the end of third grade, your child will be able to draw a mental map of the world and identify the major rivers on the earth. Students will publish a personal narrative, a memoir, a nonfiction piece, as well as an anthology of poetry. Be sure to check the links to the right for more information. Again, welcome!
