 | Welcome to an exciting year in third grade. My name is Monica Fitzgerald and I am privileged to be your child's teacher this year. This year is my 23nd year of teaching, and my 16th year at Randolph Heights Elementary School. Prior to my position here, I taught at another elementary school in St. Paul for five years and at a parochial school for another three. My experience has been in grades one, two, three, and four. I received my teaching degree from Winona State University (the 2008 NCAA Division II National champs in mens basketball!) and earned a Masters degree from the University of St. Thomas in 1995.
Aside from really liking the job I get to go to every day, I enjoy my life outside of school as well. I love reading (surprise!), travel, good movies, baseball, and cheesecake. Not necessarily in that order.
I, too, am a busy parent. My husband, Brian, and I have 3 children: our daughter, Erin, is a senior at the University of Minnesota Duluth; Tommy, our son, is a sophmore at Winona State University; and our youngest, Andrew, is 16 and a senior at Tartan High School. Oh yes - we also have a big, slobbery, huggable black lab/golden retriever/chesapeake bay retriever mix we rescued four years ago. She's almost as messy as a teenager!
I look forward to a fun and exciting year!
